FLORAL CITY, Fla.- Gary Trent, 72, Floral City, died Friday, April 27, 2018, in Gainsville, Fla., with his wife Cathy at his side. He lost his battle with cancer.

Survivors include his wife Cathy and four granddaughters in Florida, with one special little granddaughter, Mneme, who loved riding with Grandpa on one of his horses. He had a daughter Kristen Lehne and husband Steve, with whom he had three grandsons in California. He had a son, Scott Trent and wife Kimberly, who whom he had one grandson and four granddaughters in Arizona. He is also survived by three siblings, one brother Earl Robinson and wife Wanda, Nevada, Mo. and two sisters, Della Mitchell, Lebanon, Mo. and Connie Stump and husband Eugene, Lockwood, Mo., and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion Trent Jr. and Darrell Robinson, Eureka, Calif. and a nephew and niece, Kevin and Kathy Stump.

Mr. Trent was born September 30, 1945, in Jerico Springs, to Marion and Marie (Elliff) Trent. He was a 1964 high school graduation from Ukiah, Calif. He lived in Lamar, Mo. for a while, while he attended Pitt State and got his degree and also worked part time at Gilkey’s before returning to California. He was in the reserves during the Vietnam War. He worked for General Cable for 15 years as an engineer and worked in sales of bucket trucks. In 1985 he started his own company, “TRENT, CO”, as a manufacturer’s rep. He helped the telcoms engineer and built their air pressure systems to protect cables that to this day provide phone, fax, internet and circuits that people need and use every day. He was still running the company with his wife at the time of his death.
