WANDA MAGGARD

MT. VERNON- Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Newton Burial Park in Nevada for Wanda Kay Maggard, 64, Mt. Vernon, formerly of Nevada, who died Friday, April 27, 2018, at Cox Hospital South in Springfield.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Survivors include her four children, Frank Maggard and wife Amy, Willard, Martha Loyd and husband Robert, Mt. Vernon, Betty Maggard, Brookings, S.D. and Joe Maggard and wife Melissa, Quincy, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Kerns, Kansas City, Junior Kerns, Nevada, Donnie Kerns, Nevada and Michael Kerns, Tonganoxie, Kan.; her companion of 40 years, Harley Collier, of the home and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Teresa Garren.

Mrs. Maggard was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., to Junie Duane and Martha Lynn (Baldwin) Kerns. She was reared in Kansas City and graduated from West High School. She moved to Nevada in 1976 and had also lived in Lamar from 1992-2012. She had resided in Mt. Vernon for the past five years.

She loved to bowl and play bingo.
