GREENFIELD- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Marjorie Lou Woods, 86, Greenfield, who died Wednesday night, May 23, 2018, at Dade County Nursing Home, where she had been a resident for the past six months. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Carmel Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Freund and husband Jerry, Greenfield; a son, Ronald Woods and wife Dawn, Springfield; a sister, Marlene Bradley, Reno, Nevada; two brothers, Melbert Sharp, Weslaco, Texas and Ira Blair, Garland, Texas; six grandchildren, Michelle Steward and husband Joey, Tulsa, Okla., Kevin Freund and wife Jennifer, Stratton, Colo., Brice Woods and wife Christina, Springfield, Brock Woods and wife Sarah, Imperial, Sheri Carson and husband Patrick, Sylmer, Calif. and Valerie Cooper and husband Bryant, Willard; 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Woods was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Aurora, to Tanda and Nannie (Lane) Sharp. She married Lorn Woods on Sept. 18, 1947, in Carthage and they made their home and reared their two children in Dade and Barton counties. They were devoted to each other and made lasting memories gardening, traveling, hosting and attending family events. By their example, they instilled family values and work ethic in their children and delighted in the accomplishments of their grandchildren. He died Jan. 1, 2008.

In addition to being a hospitable homemaker, she had worked for many years at various jobs in Greenfield, Lockwood and Lamar. She loved her family and was involved in the children’s school and church activities. She was a member of Bethlehem Southern Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship of her friends in the Dade County Extension Club.
