ORA BASS

LAMAR-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home for Ora Othel Bass, 94, Lamar, who died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Barton County Memorial Hospital. Larry Garfield will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, near Sylvania.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his children, Alfred Bass and wife Retta, Wichita, Kan., Ora Dean Bass, Jerico Springs, Lonny Bass and wife Ann, Lockwood, Wilma Volkman, Harrisonville and Nancy Boman and husband Mike, Lamar; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-great-grandchildren and numerous others that called him Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cloyd, James Jimmie, HO Jack and Orville; a sister, Edith Taylor; grandchildren, Chemaly Jo Boman and Albert Dean Bass and great-great-grandchild, Zayden Brollier.

Mr. Bass was born April 10, 1921, in Milford, to James Alfred and Laura Mae (Beckley) Bass. He attended Milford High School and graduated with the class of 1936. He had worked for Gilkey's, Ihm's and Medlin's, doing auto body work and had also been a hobby farmer.

He married Thelma Mae Moore on June 6, 1942, in Lamar. She died Sept. 1, 1997.
