LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oakton United Methodist Church for Ruth Nadine (Bennett) Overstreet, 84, Lamar, who died Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at her home. Burial will be in Oakton Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to Oakton United Methodist Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Jane Overstreet, Colorado Springs, Colo., Bradley and Rhonda Overstreet, Lamar, Greg and Belinda Overstreet, Webb City and a daughter-in-law, Connie Overstreet, Lamar; four brothers, Allen and wife Cheryl Bennett, Bill and wife Coralie Bennett, Larry and wife Marilyn Bennett and Gary Bennett, all of Girard, Kan.; four sisters, Alice and husband Bob Davied, Pittsburg, Kan., Betty Trammell, Girard, Kan., Judy and husband Larry Thoenen, Oologah, Okla. and Joyce and husband John Kovacic, Girard, Kan.; 11 grandchildren, Jamie and wife Melissa, Lamar, Bryan and wife Denise, Lamar, Ashley and husband Paul Bonneville, Boulder, Colo., Caleb and wife Heather Overstreet, Myanmar, Cooper and wife Katie Overstreet, Cheyenne, Wyo., Brenda and husband Troy Burge, Lamar, Carina and husband James Hill, Colorado Springs, Jordan and wife Laura Overstreet, Jefferson City, Gregory and wife Jennifer Overstreet, Golden City, Chasity and husband Justin Anderson, Republic and Crystal and husband John McDonald, Webb City; 22 great-grandchildren, Kaden and wife Haley Overstreet, Kyler Overstreet, Kolin Overstreet, Kase Overstreet, Krissy Overstreet, Kiley Overstreet, Johiah Overstreet, Kirsalyn Hood, Kauldin Hood, Jayston Anderson, Baylee Overstreet, Kennedi Overstreet, Sammi Overstreet, Jaxton Anderson, Micah Overstreet, Ryker McDonald, Ellen Overstreet, Eden Overstreet, Keelan Overstreet, Stella Overstreet, Ruthie Overstreet and Whitley Overstreet and one great-great-grandchild, Myles Overstreet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert George Overstreet; two sons, John Wayne Overstreet and Herbert Lee Overstreet and five brothers, Carl Bennett, Don Bennett, Floyd Bennett, Bobby Bennett and Harold Bennett.

Mrs. Overstreet was born May 29, 1934, in Girard, Kan., to Alva Jacob and Mildred Ruth (Horton) Bennett. She married Herbert George Overstreet on Dec. 21, 1951, in Lamar and they made their home in Lamar for many years.

She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. Over the years she worked in Lamar at Rogers Flies and Lures, Community Lumber and O’Sullivan Industries before she retired to become a full time grandma who expressed her love for her family through baking and taking care of everyone. She loved following her grandkids through their sports and accomplishments. She was an active member of UMW, Golden Ages and Oakton United Methodist Church.
