VERNA LUCILLE SHORT

PITTSBURG, Kan.- Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, Mo., for Verna Lucille Short, 85, Pittsburg, who died Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at her home. Rev. Dan Moss will officiate.

Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery for the services.

Arrangements are under the direction of Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald Short and wife Mistie, Mindenmines, Mo. and Kelly Short, Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Billie Gates; an infant sister and a brother, Cecil Edwards.

Mrs. Short was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Pittsburg, to Cecil W. and Violet M. (Swift) Edwards. She worked as a nurse’s aide and home care for Integris Health Systems for many years.

She married William F. Short on Sept. 25, 1950. He died in 1992.
