LAMAR- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home for Opal Jeanette Davis, 92, Lamar, who died Tuesday, Sept. 18 2018.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her children, Franklin Davis and Kimberly Howarth and husband Brent; seven grandchildren, Curtiss Davis and wife Autumn, Jessica Gilmet and husband Joe, Cody Davis, Sophia Davis, Brenton Howarth and wife Julie, Blake Howarth and wife Emily and Kaleigh Howarth; nine great-grandchildren, A.J. Davis, Cici Davis, Joslyn Gilmet, Jolene Gilmet, Zaiden Howarth, Ryker Howarth, Leighton Howarth, Briley Howarth and Allison Howarth and a sister, Ruth Rodgers.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Clarence Davis; her children’s father, Franklin Davis, Sr., and siblings, Richard Rice, Edward Rice, Raymond Rice, Evert Rice, Essie Rice, Margaret Stockdale and Clara Cline.

Mrs. Davis was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Sarcoxie, to Roy Benjamin and Mary Sophia (Burggraf) Rice. She was a 1943 graduate of Lamar High School. She was employed as an administrative assistant at Barton County Memorial Hospital, working there over 40 years until her retirement.

She would bake and decorate cookies, especially during the holidays. She and her sister Clara made 1000’s of them. When Clara was unable to, Mrs. Davis continued the tradition of “Mrs. Cline’s cookies” and that tradition continues with Mrs. Davis’ daughter, Kim.

She loved to garden, spend time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events and school programs.
