Jasper defeats Liberal in semifinal

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow The Jasper Lady Eagles hosted the Class 1 District 9 tournament and pleased their home fans by knocking off Bronaugh in first round play. They then defeated Liberal in the semifinal before getting beat by top seeded McAuley Catholic in the championship game. Jasper finishes with a record of 10-17-2. Liberal finished 15-12-1 and earned a bye in the first round of the district tournament. Lamar Tigers dominate Jasper
The SW Select basketball team ended their season by winning the Kansas State Championship with a record of 21-1 in three tournaments, plus Kansas State. Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger A total of $3600 was raised at the car and jeep show held Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Lamar Christian Church Parking lot, with proceeds to benefit the new Barco Drive-In screen tower. Pictured are, left to right, Lamar Bank & Trust President Pat O’Neal, Barco Drive-In Theatre fundraiser director Landin Myers and representing the Plaza/Barco and Lamar Community Betterment, Scott Kelley.
