LAMAR- Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Lake Cemetery for Gary Howard Ratzlaff, 76, Lamar, who died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, following a long battle with cancer. Rev. Steve George will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, at Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested to Barton County Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include a son, Michael Ratzlaff, Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Sherri Monday and husband Tex, Greenwood; a sister, Marsha Harkrader, Appleton City and two grandsons, Nathan Pickering and wife Kelli, Stillwater, Okla. and Hunter Pickering, Blue Springs.

Mr. Ratzlaff was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Montezuma, Kan., to Walter and Arlene Mae (Lewis) Ratzlaff. After graduating from Lamar High School in 1960, he went on to obtain a law degree from Washburn University.

He was a partner in the law firm of Boyer and Ratzlaff Attorneys-at-Law and had also served as Barton County prosecuting attorney, as well as a circuit court judge. He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association and enjoyed bicycling, reading and coaching girls’ softball.

He married Sue Carol Boyer on Feb. 12, 1962, in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2017.
