Unprecedented success enjoyed by LHS girls swim team

The Lamar girls swim team competed at the Missouri High School State Swim Championships in St. Peters on February 15 and 16. They were accompanied by Head Coach Lyman Burr and West Elementary Principal Mary Clark. All eight team members enjoyed a festive send-off at the high school before departing. The Tigers fielded three swimmers in individual events and sent all three of their relays to State Championships. Best Times and new school records were achieved by Kaitlyn Davis in the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard medley relay, consisting of Davis, Meghan Watson, Emma Tennal and Abby Kluhsman. Davis also competed in the 100 yard freestyle and the 400 yard freestyle relay. Tennal qualified for the 100 yard breaststroke, as well as all three relays. Haily Born and Nevaeh Jones participated in the 200 yard freestyle relay, while Abby Kluhsman competed in all three relays. In addition to racing on two relays, Watson advanced to the Championship “A” Final in the 100 yard butterfly, placing seventh in the state and to the Consolation “B” Final in the 100 yard backstroke, finishing third in her Heat and 11th overall.
