LAMAR- Services were held at 4 pm. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home for Douglas Lynn Meister, 57, Lamar, who died Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin.

Contributions are suggested to Oakton United Methodist Church Bus Ministry, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife Connie; his mother, Hazel Amoss, Springfield; two sons, Clinton Meister and wife Tori and Lance Meister and wife Maranda, both of El Dorado Springs; a daughter, Karlena Meister, Nevada, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Heather Duncan and husband Dennis, Lamar; a sister, Lisa Landon and husband David, Springfield; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Terryl Meister; stepfather, William Amoss and two stepdaughters, Julie Phipps and Abby Phipps.

Mr. Meister was born Sept. 11, 1961, in Carthage, to Terryl Dean and Hazel Allene (Kern) Meister. He attended school in Nevada, Mo. On Aug. 15, 2004, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ at the Oakton United Methodist Church. While attending Milford Christian Church he met Connie Sue Houston and the two of them fell in love. They were married June 25, 2005, at the Oakton United Methodist Church.

He had worked as a delivery driver of special needs children for Apple Bus Company. He was an avid fan and collector of Looney Tunes. He was active in the Bus Ministry at Oakton United Methodist Church and took care of the landscaping at the church.
