BEL AIRE, Kan.- Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home in Lamar, Mo., for Ruth Evelyn Hendricks, 92, who died Thursday, May 16, 2019, at the Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire. Burial will be at the Liberal City Cemetery in Missouri.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, as well as from prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iantha (Mo.) Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Wesley Hendricks and wife Liz, Wichita; a daughter, Sherry Scara, Demming, N.M.; five grandchildren, Pat and Susan Hendricks and Geoffrey, Gabriel and Robin Scara and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde.

Mrs. Hendricks was born July 16, 1926, in Osborne, to Aaron and Inez (DeForest) Darnell. After high school she worked for Beach Aircraft as a secretary and receptionist. Her training and work included the use of a comptometer, an extremely fast, key-driven calculator.

While playing the piano for a revival in Wichita, she met a youngest evangelist named Clyde Hendricks. After the revival she accepted a job that took her to the state of California, where he eventually found her in San Lorenzo and they were married on November 25, 1958. They returned to the Midwest, where they continued to serve the Lord in many churches, including Iantha Baptist Church in Iantha, Mo. and holding revivals in Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois and Missouri.

She played the piano during revivals for Native American churches in Oklahoma and at 92 she was still playing the piano. She also worked in both city hall and the post office in Mindenmines, Mo.
