Hockett sworn in as reserve officer Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow New Lamar police officer Skyler Hockett was sworn-in as an officer by Lamar City Clerk Bev Baker prior to last week's Lamar City Council meeting. While working as the town’s nuisance abatement officer he was also attending the MSSU Police Academy. Hockett is now working full time with the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department and will be a reserve officer for Lamar. His badge was pinned on by his wife, Joanna, with daughters Shyler and Annabel.

Lamar Democrat/Nadine Pattison Picnic in the Park drew several despite the rainy and stormy weather that was experienced throughout the day. Several food trucks were available to offer a wide variety of choices to those stopping by to dine. Menus from the various food trucks were listed on the Lamar City Park facebook page, along with their phone number to call for easy access. The next Picnic in the Park will be held Thursday, May 23, for both lunch and dinner, at the Lamar City Park.

Treycen Coy, son of Matthew Coy and Angie Coy, is the sixth grade Lamar Middle School Student of the Week. In his spare time Treycen likes to play football, eat, play with his brothers and sisters in his yard and mow the lawn. His favorite college team is the Oklahoma Sooners and his favorite NFL team is the Kansas City Chiefs.
