LAMAR- Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton for Susan Joan Griffitt, 60, Lamar, who died Friday, June 21, 2019, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, at Daniel Funeral Home.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Griffitt, of the home; two sons, Nick Fanning and wife Melissa, Lamar and Jeremiah Fanning, Springfield; a stepson, Aaron Griffitt and wife Nellie, Lamar; one brother, Larry Willcockson and wife Yvonne, Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Shirley Willcockson, Springfield and Cheryl Anstine and husband Joe, Chilhowee; five grandchildren, Olivia Fanning, Lane Fanning, Cody Fanning, Trenton Fanning and Hailey Griffitt, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Griffitt was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Clinton, to Gene Edward Willcockson and Ruby Helen Chambers. She graduated from Leeton High School in Leeton in 1976 and the MSSU Police Academy in Joplin in 1993. She married William Aaron Griffitt on Nov. 17, 2005, in Lamar.

She worked as a Certified Nurse Aide at Truman Healthcare and Rehab in Lamar. She loved animals, especially her Great Dane “Gracie”. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers and she loved fishing and camping with her husband Bill.
