GOLDEN CITY- A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, at the Cloud County Event Center, 107 W. 7th, Concordia, Kan., for K. Wayne “Butch” Cossel, 68, Golden City, who died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Survivors include his wife, Liz, Golden City; daughters, Nikki Gabel, Andale, Kan. and Mandy Cossel, Nevada, Mo.; sons, Josh Cossel and Chris Cossel, both of Golden City; sisters, Kennda Eis and husband Chuck, Milwaukee, Wisc., Stephanie “Dee” Marshall and husband Bill, Abilene, Kan. and Kathy Ashland and husband Gary, Concordia, Kan; brothers, Wallace Cossel and wife Pat, Sheridan, Wyo., Terry Cossel and wife Karen, Beatrice, Neb. and Wolf Einhorn, Concordia, Kan.; four grandchildren, Trey Gabel, Destiny Gabel, Emily Cossel and Jacob Cossel; great-grandchildren, Audrey Cox and Acelin Ponting and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Cossel.

Mr. Cossel was born Jan. 3, 1951, in Spokane, Wash., to Kenneth Cossel and Virginia (Smith) Allen. He was reared in Concordia, Kan., with his Mom and Dad Jim Allen and was a member of the Concordia High School Class of 1969.

He married Elizabeth Norgard on Feb. 12, 1993 and the couple made their home in Golden City.

He was a CMA and loved his work as a caregiver. He also enjoyed watching Royals baseball on TV and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs. He had to give up the job he loved due to advanced kidney disease and COPD.
