VERA PUGH
LAMAR- A celebration of life was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weng Funeral Chapel in Jasper for Vera (Rives) Pugh, 93, Lamar, who died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin.
Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Lamar, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include four sons, Carter Pugh and wife Jill and Gerald Pugh and wife Sheila, both of Irwin, Fred Pugh and wife Glenda, Joplin and Joe Pugh and wife Vicki, Lamar; one sister, Janet Miller and husband Calvin, Iantha; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pugh; a daughter, Raelene Sue Miller; a son, Eugene Ray Pugh; two grandchildren, Kevin and Karen Miller and a brother, George Rives.
Mrs. Pugh was born May 8, 1926, in Barton County and married Raymond Albert Pugh on July 1, 1944, in Girard, Kan. She attended school in Iantha and was a graduate of Lamar High School.
She was a homemaker, worked with her husband and sons farming, worked as a cashier at Woods Grocery Store in Jasper and worked in the cafeteria of Lamar Schools for several years. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lamar. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, working with flowers and plants, but her greatest love was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
