Back in September of 2016, a discussion arose when then Fire Chief Larry Beatty reported to the city council at its September 19 meeting that Memorial Hall did not have an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant restroom. Fast forward several years and that idea has become a reality. Thanks to the generous donations of VFW Post 3691, the Lamar City Township and Mitch Potter, the Memorial Hall restroom is now ADA compliant, with an official plaque recognizing the donations, city council members, mayor, city administrator and city clerk. Also furnished by the Lamar City Township were new light fixtures and fans in the main room at Memorial Hall. Pictured are, left to right, Bonda Rawlings representing Lamar City Township, Lamar Mayor Kent Harris, Merdith Chapman with VFW 3691 and Mitch Potter, who was responsible for the plumbing. For anyone that ever saw the tiny bathroom that has been used for years, this will definitely be a huge asset to Memorial Hall, with room to spare.
