LAMAR- Masonic Rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Daniel Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service for George Edwin Dighero, 93, Lamar, who died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery with military honors.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Bluff Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Dighero and George Dighero and wife Tammy, Lamar; four grandchildren, Casey Dighero and wife Tammye, Holly Shay Dighero and Fernando Mendez, Justin Dighero and wife Chelsea and Tyler Dighero and wife Jenna and five great-grandchildren, Lily Dighero, Georgi Dighero, Andrew Mendez, Summer Mendez and Cheyanne Dighero.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jean Dighero; a son, Dennis Dighero; four brothers, Dominic, Loyd, Johnnie and Herb Dighero and two sisters, Margaret Metcalf and Mary Morrow.

Mr. Dighero was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Irwin, to John Dominic and Mable Claire (Spurling) Dighero. He served his country by joining the U.S. Army. On September 3, 1950, he married Delores Jean Burke in Nevada, Mo.

He worked as a construction supervisor, plowing underground telephone cable for Frank Horton. He also enjoyed raising cattle. He was a member of the American Legion, Liberal AF & AM Lodge, Odd Fellows Lodge, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and the Lamar AF & AM Lodge.
