She had 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lanz, on Feb. 24, 2002; her twin brother, Maurice; brothers, Chuck, Neil and James Robinson and one sister, Lois Kirk.

Mrs. Lanz was born along with her twin brother, Maurice, on Oct. 12, 1930, at the family home in Columbus, Kan., to James C. and Iva Cleo (Farnsworth) Robinson. She attended rural school and was a 1948 graduate of Columbus High School. Not only did she help with the rearing of her younger brothers and sisters, she also lived with a family to help take care of their laundry and other household chores.

After high school she moved to Carthage, where she became a legal secretary. After moving to Joplin she continued her career as a legal secretary for the late Emerson Foulk and Al Shortridge. She retired in 1980 after 30 years in this field.

She married Calvin Lanz on Nov. 5, 1954, at Blendville Christian Church in Joplin. It was at this church where she accepted Jesus into her heart. They could continue going to this church until they moved to the family farm in 1975. Countryside Christian Church in Pittsburg, Kan. would soon become their new church home, where she was still a member.

Once retired she became a full-time farmer’s wife, mom and GG to her grandkids and great-grandkids. She enjoyed the farm life and for many years put out a garden from which she would can food for her family. She continued living on the family farm until December of 2018, when a fall would cause her to have to go to assisted living. She loved to go fishing, especially with her neighbor and friend, Hazel Kibler. She was also an accomplished bowler and bowled on a league in Joplin for many years.

She was one who would never complain no matter what life dealt her. She touched the spirit of everyone she came in contact with and she will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
