Dermott wins annual pie contest at Maple Leaf Festival Janet Dermott won the 4th Annual Cando Senior Center Pie Contest at the Maple Leaf Festival held recently in Carthage. Her pie was a delicious Apple Cranberry Crumble with Maple Cream. When finding out she won Dermott said, “I’m shocked! For years I thought of entering and finally decided to enter because I was inspired by Amanda’s (Stone) win last year”. When asked what inspired her to make the pie she made, Dermott said, “I see a recipe and get inspired, then go from there with my own ideas”. Evidently those ideas made her a blue ribbon winner!
