LOCKWOOD-Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lockwood Christian Church for Olevia Lucille Diefenderfer, 90, Lockwood, who died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Burial will be in Anna Edna Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m., at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton.
Mrs. Diefenderfer is in a far better place to be, with her heavenly savior and to see her husband, which she has missed since 1984. She was a strong little woman who suffered with pain for several years, but would never complain until the last months when her health failed her.
She was a devout Christian woman who loved the Bible. She was a caring wife and the best mother you could ask for.
Mrs. Diefenderfer was born Feb. 4, 1925, to Len and Cleora Farmer. She was one of eight children. She had four brothers, Harold, Tom, Norman and Robert Tiny and two sisters, Nadine and Isabelle, which preceded her in death. Rosalee is the only surviving sibling which lives in Florida. They stayed in touch by phone until just recently when it was hard to communicate for too long because of her failing health.
She attended grade school and high school, but dropped out of high school to marry Orville Lefty Diefenderfer on Feb. 7, 1942. They lived on a farm south of Jerico Springs and attended Cedarville Church. Their only offspring, Larry, was born March 31, 1949.
When her husband Lefty died in May of 1984 at the age of 63 years old, she moved to Lockwood to a house on Olive St. She retired from O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar and later worked at John's, which later became the Harvest Table.
She was a member of Lockwood Christian Church and often went on the OATS bus to Greenfield. She had been in the nursing home since November of 2014. She had recently been in Mercy Hospital in Springfield three times since the middle of July 2015.
Also surviving are two granddaughters, Kristin and Kara, and several grandchildren including Emily and Ethan of Lockwood. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Catherine and several nieces and nephews. Also included is Bobbi Brummett, which is a wonderful neighbor and friend. Bobbi and her late husband were angels from heaven, who helped in any way that they could. Larry has two friends, Clarence and Mike Brummett, which became half-brothers that he never had.
