A two vehicle accident occurred at 3:50 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, three miles south of Lamar on I49, when a northbound 2010 Cadillac Escalade, being driven by Lori A Johnston, 45, Jasper, struck a northbound 1999 Freightliner that was being driven by James L Keister, 59, Mesquite, Texas. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol report, Johnston received serious injuries and was transported by life flight to Mercy Hospital Springfield.

Lamar Democrat/Melody Metzger The First Baptist Church stepped outside of its walls on Sunday morning, as members of the congregation, along with others from the community, gathered at the Wyatt Earp Park in order to worship the Lord. Music sheets were handed out to those attending, with the church’s worship leader Steve Livingston and the Praise Band from the church leading in the music. Dr. Robert Hodson, senior pastor at the church, shared the sermon. According to Ron Sandberg and Ed Patterson, a total of 198 were in attendance on this beautiful day.
