ROBERT HASTINGS

CARTHAGE-A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hannon Freewill Baptist Church for Robert Dale Hastings, 71, Carthage, formerly of Bronaugh, who died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at Barton County Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions may be made to the Robert Hastings family, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Becky Hastings, of the home; a son, Dale Hastings of Texas; two daughters, Debbie Richards and husband Brian, Texas and Faith Jeffries and husband Jared, Jasper; a stepson, Brent Alford and wife Cynthia, Lamar; four brothers, Donald Hastings and wife Doris, Illinois, John Darwin Hastings and wife Marianne, Arcola, Gary Hastings, Bronaugh and Billy Ray Hastings, Georgia; two sisters, Betty Smith and husband Jerry, Wichita, Kan. and Joan Owens and husband Bill, Joplin and seven grandchildren, Aubrey Allen, Sarah Allen, Rachael Allen, Logan Alford, Sierra Alford, Blake Jeffries and Baylee Jeffries.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Hastings, Jo Ellen Jones and Laverna Drummond.

Mr. Hastings was born July 17, 1944, at Nevada, Mo., to John Raymond and Dora Beatrice (Fry) Hastings. He graduated high school in Bronaugh. He was a self-employed carpenter, building many homes over the last 37 years and had also been a crop farmer. He really enjoyed deer hunting and fishing.

He married Becky Davis on July 3, 1978, at Miami, Okla.
