LAMAR- A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Barton City Cemetery for Martin “Marty” Ray Collier, 66, Lamar, who died peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2020, at his home surrounded by family. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of the home; children, Sara Laepple and husband Hayden and Bryan Bass and wife Katie, both of Lamar; his mother, Patsy Collier, Oklahoma; siblings, Brenda Brunker, Cara Wheeler and husband Mike and Eric Collier, all of Oklahoma and eight grandchildren, Daniel, Bethany, Charity, Kaylee and Kynzie Bass and Seth, Mira and Camille Rae Laepple.
He was preceded in death by his father, Weldon; brother, Steve Collier; daughter, Rachel and brother-in-law, Johnie Brunker.
Mr. Collier was born March 8, 1954, in Enid, Okla., to Weldon and Patsy (Alban) Collier. He was a 1972 graduate of Weatherford (Okla.) High School. He joined the US Army in 1973. He was stationed in Germany, where he served as a Lance Missile Crewman. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Weatherford and completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. During his years in Oklahoma he learned the carpentry trade, rough necked on oil rigs and owned a fencing company.
He moved to Lamar in 1988 and became a member of Bethany Baptist (Grace Place) church, where he served in many capacities for the next 30 years.
He married Sharon Reynolds in 1991, in Lamar. He used his carpentry skills and spent the next 20 years operating Hire A Hand Home Repair in and around Lamar, until his retirement.
