PAT SHEAT

LAMAR- Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lamar First Baptist Church for Patricia “Pat” Sue Sheat, 81, Lamar, who died Monday, May 4, 2020, at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage.
Arrangements were under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Barton County Senior Center, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include her husband, George Sheat; two sons, Bruce Sheat and wife Cheryl and Chris Sheat and wife Dana, both of Lamar; two daughters, Brenda McKay and husband Tom, Jasper and Teresa Foster and husband Russell, Kansas City, Mo.; one brother, Bill Bass, Kansas City, Mo.; one sister, Martha Bass, Girard, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Mike Bass.
Mrs. Sheat was born March 8, 1939, in Sheldon, to Claude M. and Helen Mae (Mann) Bass. She was a graduate of Joplin High School. She married the love of her life, George E. Sheat, on July 28, 1957, at Bethany Baptist Church in rural Lamar.
Mrs. Sheat was a homemaker and a loving and devoted mother. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced any chance to celebrate with them. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards at the Barton County Senior Center and was always helping with funeral dinners at the church. When her children were younger, she was the PTA president in Liberal. She also was a school bus driver and kept busy driving grain trucks, plus all the other things that come with being a farm wife.
She was the music director for a time at the First Baptist Church in Liberal, where she was a member most of her married life until moving to Lamar and had been an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lamar since. She worked at O’Sullivan Industries for several years after her children were out of the home.
