Shaw and wife Carol; a sister, Dawna Hatcher and husband Mark; his children, Kara Lee Hamman and husband Charles, Christopher Keith Shaw and a foster daughter, Tyleen Caffrey and husband Ed; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shaw was born February 1, 1943, in Celina, Texas, to Donald W. and mother Desi (Casey) Shaw. At a young age his family moved out to the coast, where he grew up in the California sun. Graduating high school in 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
In the summer of 1965, he met his wife Donna and they were married on October 9, 1965.
As a carpenter he built many houses along the coast of California and he continued after moving his family to Missouri in the early 70’s. In addition to houses, he built businesses, barns, porches and cabinets.
He built a garden nearly every year of his life, where he grew “the best tomatoes in Barton County.” He had raised dogs many years as well.
Though he built many things in his life, if you asked him what his proudest achievement was it would be family. He passed on years of knowledge to his children and grandchildren about his woodworking and gardening. It is through those memories that he will live on in their hearts.
