The new U.S. Route 160 bridge over the BNSF Railroad in Lamar is now open to the public. Bridge work was completed at 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23. The bridge was originally closed in February, with the completion date being delayed due to weather and unforeseen construction issues. The new bridge is 43 feet wide with two 12-foot driving lanes, two eight-foot wide shoulders with barrier curb and fencing on both sides. It also is three feet higher over the BNSR Railroad tracks. The cost of the total project was $4.4 million, with the prime contractor being Hartman & Company out of Springfield.
