NORTH MIAMI, Okla.- A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Lake Cemetery in Lamar, Mo., with full military honors, for Lloyd Eugene Holtzen, 88, who died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, in Oklahoma City.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar. Mo.

Survivors include his wife Mary Holtzen, of the home; four daughters and their husbands, Dianna Banning, Aurora, Mo., Debbie and Lee Dunk, Tontitown, Ark., Denise and Ron Ketcher, Watts and Dana and Rob Thurlo, Webb City, Mo.; four stepchildren and their spouses, Larry and Lisa Conard, Baxter Springs, Kan., Kenny and Keri Conard, Baxter Springs, Kan., Doug and Sandra Conard, Florida and Deanna and Earl Sherwood, Wyandotte; two sisters, Donna Selvey, Bolivar, Mo. and Lucille Schilling, Frazier, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, Jason Thomson, Justin Thompson, Beau Banning, Matthew Smith, Kaleb Forkner, Kallie Thurlo, Tiffany Conard, Todd Conard, Jacob Conard, Dustin Conard, Nichole Conard, Zack Kellogg, Trinton Kellogg and Amberly Conard and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his his wife, Reba Holtzen and a sister, Ruth Alday.

Mr. Holtzen was born in Carleton, Neb. on December 11, 1931, to Herbert and Alvina (Braun) Holtzen. He was baptized in 1931 in the Lutheran Church in Hebron, Neb.

In 1940, the family moved to Lockwood, Mo. and he attended the Lutheran School at Meinert, Mo. and was confirmed in 1945 by Pastor Eggart. In 1946 the family moved to Lamar, Mo. and he attended Lamar High School and graduated in 1950. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was a payroll clerk. In 1952 he married Reba Davis and together they raised four daughters. She died in 1996 after 43 years of marriage.

In 1955, after he was discharged from the Navy, Mr. Holtzen was employed at Lawn Boy and in 1963 he accepted a job with Citation Manufacturing Co in Siloam Spring, Ark. The highlight of his career was as controller for Citation, when he testified before the US Congress.

In 1978, he moved back to Lamar, Mo., working for Bell Egg Production Company. In 1983 he moved to Carthage, Mo., working for General Irrigation Company as a controller. He had also worked at PAR Inc in Jasper, Mo. and Precision Paint in Carl Junction, Mo., until his retirement. He was always a loyal a dedicated employee throughout his entire work career. He was a member of the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, growing vegetables and raising chickens, ducks, sheep and goats.

On October 28, 2000 he married Mary Jane (Fell) Conard and they made their home in North Miami.
