Destructive winds roar through area causing havoc

With the fair going ahead despite many misgivings, a strong storm passed through the area on Saturday morning, packing 60 mph plus winds and destroying not only many trees, power lines and transformers, but also much of the fairgrounds located around the Lamar square. As of Sunday afternoon many areas were still without power as the city worked diligently to get it restored to all business and residential areas of town.
