KENNETH L. BANTA
LOCKWOOD- Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Golden City Christian Church for Kenneth L. Banta, 86, Lockwood, who died Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Burial will be in Pippenger Cemetery.
Friends and family are welcome to view and pay their respects on Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Greenfield Funeral Chapel. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, please be mindful of maintaining a social distance and the capacity and seating may be limited. Also, you are welcome to and, indeed, encouraged to wear face masks to protect yourselves and others.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Banta and wife Tammy and Russell Banta and wife Shannon; daughter-in-law, Stacy Banta; his brother, Edward Banta and wife Dorma; grandchildren, Ben Banta and wife Amy, Maranda Miner and husband Derrick, Jennifer Banta, Abby Banta, Erica Stevens and Jeff Stevens and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Banta was born March 1, 1934, in Lawrence County, to James and Lela (White) Banta. He was a graduate of Golden City High School. He was united in marriage to Marietta Medley on November 14, 1958 in Carterville and she preceded him in death. He married Shirley Cooley in August of 1993 and she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents, and one son, Randall Banta.
Mr. Banta was a lifelong grain and cattle farmer. He was a member of the Golden City Christian Church and the Lockwood American Legion Post No. 372. He enjoyed dancing and trail rides.
