New hanger and pilot's lounge named in honor of Tom Richards

Lamar Democrat/Chris Morrow What was to be a grand opening of the new 8,000 square foot hanger and pilot's lounge at the Lamar Municipal Airport became a scene of appreciation Saturday as it was named in the honor of longtime flight instructor Tom Richards. Richards is a retired Lamar R-1 teacher who has been a stalwart at the airport. He is shown here with his hand on the shoulder of Jerry Marti who was the force behind the privately funded project and a longtime friend and former student of Richards. Richards was unaware prior to the ceremony that it was to be named in his honor.
