Barton County Health Department urges people to stay safe

The Barton County Health Department reminds individuals that if they are sick, to please stay home and isolate themselves from others. If individuals think it is just allergies or a sinus infection, they should also stay home and isolate themselves from others until they know for sure.
At this time COVID-19 testing is available in Lamar at Cox Barton County Hospital and Access Family Care. Individuals may also contact their healthcare provider about testing.
Even if no symptoms exist, please wear a mask when out in the community, when social distancing is difficult or not possible. The virus can be spread by people who have not yet developed symptoms.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, there are a total of 268 cases of COVID-19, with 64 cases being active and 204 that have recovered. There have been a total of two deaths.
The health department encourages individuals to protect everyone, especially those who are at a higher risk of a severe illness. They also remind everyone that now is the time to get a flu shot.
