Barton County Community Foundation gala postponed

In light of the latest COVID-19 numbers, the Barton County Community Foundation (BCCF) has made the decision to postpone its annual gala event that was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24. At the time the postponement was made, Barton County had shown an 181 percent increase in cases in a seven day period.
The foundation is extremely disappointed to have to cancel and will return to their regular meeting and event schedules as soon as it is deemed safe. The Community Foundation of the Ozarks (CFO) and most affiliates in the area have canceled all in-person events.
According to Joel Dermott, administrator at the Barton County Health Department, the recent spread of positive COVID-19 cases is occurring in social and family settings. Dermott stated, “As we have opened back up and things have returned closer to normal, folks are more active and getting together in more intimate gatherings, which is the prime breeding ground for virus spread”.
The Barton County Community Foundation will still award grants and applications are available online. Those wishing to fill out an application should go to cfozarks.org then click on View Grants, scroll down to Barton County, click on Preview, then fill out the application online and submit online. The deadline to submit an application is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
A charity auction will be held online this year with a variety of great experiences and items that have been secured. A list of auction items, descriptions and photos will be posted soon.
