Positive COVID-19 cases continue

The Barton County Health Department announced on October 28, that two staff members in the Golden City School had tested positive for COVID-19. The health department is working closely with the school district to identify all close contacts. Those who were identified as close contacts were contacted by health department representatives and advised on how to proceed.
On October 29, the fourth death in Barton County, a 60 year old male that died from complications due to COVID-19, was reported by the health department. The individual had been hospitalized prior to his death.
On October 30, the health department reported on the community wide COVID testing that was done by the Missouri National Guard on October 22. The event was sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The event was free to the public and the response was outstanding. The Guard conducted 160 tests during the five-hour event and those tests returned eight positive cases in the county.
It was announced on October 30 that a staff member of the Liberal R-II School District had tested positive as well. The individual is quarantined and being monitored closely by the health department. Also, as of October 30, the health department posted that so far there have been 397 total positive cases, with 33 active and 364 recovered and four deaths.
