LOCKWOOD- Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran in Lockwood, for Laurence William VonStroh, 94, Lockwood, who died Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no gatherings before or after the service and at the cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Lockwood or St. Paul’s Lutheran Elementary School or High School in Concordia.

Survivors include his daughters, Jane and Kenneth Peters, Jefferson City, Carol and Steve Bishop, Concordia and Paula and Randy Lasater, Lockwood; eight grandchildren: Jennifer Moore, Edmond, Okla., Steven Bishop, Guthrie, Okla., Jennifer Kunkel, Meredith Marsh and Blair Sayre, all of Concordia, Clay Lasater and Joseph Lasater, Lockwood and Lauren Plank of Olathe, Kan.; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. VonStroh was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Lockwood, to Otto and Ida (Schilling) VonStroh. He was baptized on Nov. 29, 1925 and confirmed April 2, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. His confirmation verse was 2 Corinthians 5:15: “and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.”

He was a graduate of Lockwood High School and attended Missouri University for one year prior to being drafted into the Army, where he served from Nov. 6, 1945 to Nov. 26, 1946. He also attended Valparaiso University for a semester before returning to Lockwood and joining his parents on the family farm and John Deere Implement business.

Mr. VonStroh was a life-long member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lockwood, where he sang in the choir and held various positions over the years. He was active in the Lockwood American Legion and ran the John Deere Implement business in Lockwood.

He married Joan Viets on Sept. 3, 1949. She preceded him in death.
