WAYNE O'BRIEN
GOLDEN CITY-Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home for Richard Wayne O'Brien, 83, Golden City, who died at 1:50 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar. Pastor Lonnie Pennell will officiate. Burial will be at the First Christian Church I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Golden City.
Music will be provided by Stanley Parker, soloist, accompanied by Claude Howard. Pallbearers are Roger Clark, Robert Elliott, Gerry Litle, Larry Litle, Butch Pettingill and Leslie Pettingill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Alice Jenkins and husband Robert, Union and Edith Hites, Golden City; a brother, Alan O'Brien and wife Phyllis Eileen, Odessa and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles O'Brien and wife Phyllis and Oren O'Brien and wife Tei; a brother-in-law, Eldon Hites and his sister, Virginia Litle and her husband Wilbert.
Mr. O'Brien was born Sept. 4, 1932. He was a graduate of Golden City High School. He was a farmer and had worked at Meeks. He collected pencils, pens and car models. He loved to read and had collections of Zane Gray and Louis L'Amour books and also enjoyed watching movies, with John Wayne as his favorite.
He was a member of the Lockwood Baptist Church.
