RUTH BELL

MILFORD- Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Collins Cemetery in Lockwood for Ruth Potter Bell, 93, Milford, who died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at her home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Contributions are suggested and made payable to Collins Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include one son, Orville R. Bell and wife Karen, Oklahoma City, Okla.; three daughters, Diana D. Bell, Lamar, Barbara S. McKnight and husband Bryan, Coppell, Texas and Joyce A. DeMent and husband Jon, Milford; two sisters, Deane Corn and husband Phil, Boulder, Colo. and Ann Potter, Carthage; eight grandchildren; Sumere Herrera and husband Fred, Jamie DeMent, Douglass DeMent and wife Dree, Amanda Presley and husband J.B., Chris McKnight, Kyle DeMent, Shala Price and Taylor McKnight and wife Michele and Gramme to 11 great-grandchildren and was loved by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death were her husband, Orville; her parents; a daughter, Louise; five sisters, Mary, Martha, Kate, Sarah and Jessie and four brothers, John, Jack, Bert and Charlie.

Mrs. Bell was born October 1,1927, in Lamar, to P.L. and Mary (Burt) Potter. She graduated from Liberal High School in the class of 1945. On January 10, 1947, she married Orville Raymond Bell Sr. in Lamar. They raised their four children in the Midwest while he worked in the oilfields until his retirement in 1972 when they returned to Lamar.

Mrs. Bell retired from O'Sullivan Industries after 19 years of service. She and her husband were founding members of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where she was involved in sewing dresses for missions in South America, as well as making quilts for veterans at Missouri Veterans Home in Mt. Vernon. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
