CARTHAGE-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Lamar for Allen Dean Gordon, 55, formerly of Lamar, who died at his home in Carthage early Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, after a battle with cancer. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., at Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute, Kan.

Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen Gordon Family, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Gordon; two sons, Eric Gordon and wife Michelle, Edmond, Okla. and Nick Gordon, Marysville, Kan.; one stepson, Steven Sheets and wife Amy, Jonesboro, Ark.; five brothers, Will Gordon, Edmond, Okla., David Gordon and wife Daylene, Scott Gordon and wife Christy and Shawn Gordon and wife Michelle, all of Lamar and Ralph Gordon and wife Kelley Gordon, Richardson, Texas; one sister, Isa West, Lamar; 14 grandchildren, an uncle, Walter Dale Perry and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gordon was born May 5, 1960, at Chanute, Kan., to David Paul and Frances Ester (Berry) Gordon. He was a 1979 graduate of Lamar High School and graduated in 1998 from School of Conservation in North Cross, Ga. He had worked 27 years in the automotive business, including Abernathy's, Ihm's and Gilkey's. He had worked as a general contractor since 2000. Previously, he was a kindergarten through sixth grade coach for soccer and baseball at the YMCA in Joplin.

He married Glenda Gale McLeod on April 16, 2015, in Bolivar.
