Jasper's Kevin Moua runs into a wall of Golden City defenders during the 65th annual Golden City Tournament last week. Jasper hung in with the host in the first half before Golden City turned it on in the second half. The Eagles followed that convincing win with a 71-54 win over Liberal in the semifinal. They then squared off with Lockwood in one of the most anticipated games in the area Saturday night. Both teams came in state ranked and the Eagles knocked off top-seeded Lockwood for the title. Early in the season Lockwood had defeated Golden City in Lockwood's tournament. Pictured for Golden City are seniors Seth Miller and Lane Dunlap. Dunlap was named the tournament's most valuable player.
