SHELDON- Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Milford Christian Church for Charles William Wood, 88, Sheldon, who died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021.

Arrangements are under the direction of Konantz Warden Funeral Home, Lamar.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Maranatha Bible Camp.

Survivors include his children, Julia Roskamp, Kannapollis, NC, Jeanette Carpenter, Lamar and Clark Wood and wife Cathy, Lamar; grandchildren, Andrew Roskamp and wife Lori, Jessica Woods and husband Steve, Janelle Orozco and husband Eli, Joci Schumann and husband Kendall, Justin Carpenter, Nathan Carpenter and wife Megan, Dustin Carpenter and wife Carly, Amanda Wood, Caleb Wood and wife Janessa, Colby Wood and wife Emily, Addison Rice and husband Jacob, Casey Wood and Andrea Wood; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie and a son-in-law, David Carpenter.

Mr. Wood was born March 21, 1932, in Lamar, to Carl and Clara Belle (Davidson) Wood. He was a 1949 graduate of Lamar High School and was honored with the FFA American Farmer Degree in 1952.

He married Jessie Bula Rogers on June 11, 1953 and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Wood served in Korea in the US Army from November 1952 to October 1954. He returned home after military service and enjoyed farming for the remainder of his life. He owned and enjoyed classic cars and antique tractors. He was a loving father whose family meant the world to him. He was also a longtime member and an elder at the Milford Christian Church.
