Lamar girls make impressive showing at Springfield Swim Invitational

The Lamar High School girls swim team made an impressive showing at the Springfield Invitational on January 30, placing ninth overall in team competition. Twenty-one teams and approximately 240 athletes were in attendance. Seniors Kaitlyn Davis and Meghan Watson reached the medals podium in each of their individual races. Davis placed fifth in the 200 yard freestyle and sixth in the 100 yard freestyle, while Watson placed second in the 100 yard butterfly and third in the 100 yard backstroke. Fellow senior Emma Tennal PR’d in the 200 yard IM, finishing seventh. Teammate Audrey Osterdyk placed 10th in the 200 yard IM and 12th in the 100 yard breaststroke. Watson, Osterdyk, Tennal and Davis also earned PR’s in both of their relays, placing seventh in the 200 yard freestyle relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay. The 200 yard medley relay of Tennal, Nevaeh Jones, Kiersten Potter and Quenlyn Shaver contributed team points with a 15th place finish.
