MORGAN CITY, La.-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon, on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, for Emory Charles Besse, 79, Morgan City, who died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Maison Jardin. Burial will be in Morgan City Cemetery.

Arrangements ae under the direction of Twin City Funeral Home, Morgan City.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. A visitation will resume at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until mass.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Besse, Morgan City; three sons, Steven Besse, Lafayette, Christopher Besse and wife Kristin, Greenwell Springs and Timothy Besse and wife Kimberly, Morgan City; two daughters, Kathy LaBouve and husband Lonnie, Berwick and Judith Besse Bergeron and husband Ted, Morgan City; a sister, Patricia Manuel, Atlanta, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, Ricky, Lee, Stevie, Teddy, Megan, Derek, Austin, Cameron, Tyler, Brennan, Katelyn, Hunter and Andrew and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Besse; three brothers, Charles Chuck Bessee, Eugene Besse and George Besse; three sisters, Anna Besses, Josephine Delaune and Clauda Elstein and a grandson, Travis LaBouve.

Mr. Besse was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Morgan City, to Eugene and Andrea (Bolotte) Besse. He was a devout parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where he served as a reader and Eucharistic minister. He was also an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Cross Council 12179 and the Monsignor Jules S. Toups Assembly 2076. As a young man he served his country as a member of the Louisiana National Guard. While his children were growing up he also contributed his time as a Boy Scout leader. He worked for Franklin Supply Company for 31 years and upon his retirement began working for the St. Mary School Board, where he worked for 24 years.
