LAVERN WAKEEM

SPRINGFIELD- Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Konantz Warden Funeral Home in Lamar for Frances LaVern Wakeem, 85, Springfield, who died Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Survivors include four children, James Dale Wakeem and wife Linda, Alice Stewart and husband J.D., Phoebe Diane Wakeem and Mona Jarvis and husband Joe; four grandchildren, Erica Ballard and husband Jimmy, Benjamin Jarvis and wife Kelsey, Lindsay Forst and husband Derek and Daniel Jarvis and wife Sydney; five great-grandchildren, Avery Forst, Alyse Forst, Eleanor Ballard, Shepherd Ballard and Laela Belle Ballard and a sister, Shirley Raney and husband Curtis.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Bettie Boorda.
Mrs. Wakeem was born Aug. 29, 1935, in Comanche, Okla., to James Edward Moran and Ethel Mae Barnett. She was the oldest of three sisters. She married Dale G. Wakeem on Dec. 22, 1955, in Norman, Okla. After college she and her husband moved to Missouri, where they farmed and ranched. They settled in Lamar, where they both enjoyed success. Mrs. Wakeem bought and renewed the Mode-O-Day dress shop on the square. After retirement, she moved to Springfield to be near family. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.
