GOLDEN CITY- A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar for Eugene “Gene” George Wingert, 65, Golden City, who died Monday, June 21, 2021, at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lamar.
Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, with visitation following until 7 p.m.
Contributions are suggested and made payable to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include five brothers, Thomas Michael Wingert and wife Pamela, Lamar, Robert Joseph Wingert and wife Sharon, John William Wingert and wife Paula and Charles Mark Wingert and wife Karen, all of Golden City and Dennis Raymond Wingert and wife Lisa, Lamar and four sisters, Mary Kathryn Conway and husband Pat, St. Joseph, Ruth Elaine Rice and husband Rick, Carthage, Rita Jane Lehman and husband Tim, Erie, Kan. and Charlotte Grace Scott and husband Bill, Golden City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Reginald Wingert and Edward Francis Wingert; one brother-in-law, Richard Taft and two sisters-in-laws, Donna Wingert and Joyce Wingert.
Mr. Wingert was born April 23, 1956, in Lockwood, to Reginald C. and Kathryn Jane (Hassing) Wingert. He was a 1974 graduate of Golden City High School.
He was a truck driver for Mid-Central Contractors and a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lamar.
