LAMAR-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Lamar for Anna Mae Hillsman, 89, Lamar, who died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Barton County Memorial Hospital., surrounded by her family. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Schell City.

Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Ann Rosenberry and husband Lyle, Kokomo, Ind. and Shirley Jean Fowler and husband Ed, Sheldon; a son, Stephen Mark Hammond and wife Ann, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Wilma Marie Brown, St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kayla Hammond.

Mrs. Hillsman was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Boise, Idaho, to Oscar Lee and Vina Marie (Kelly) Rippee. She attended college in Springfield and began teaching in a one room school house in Schell City. She was always learning new skills and taking on new projects. She worked in a shirt factory and a restaurant, and she even became an E.M.T. She had her own beauty shop for many years and made a home for her family, alongside her many careers.

She married T.C. Hammond and they had three children. He died in 1991. She later married Max Hillsman, who also preceded her in death.
