JAMES LEROY GRAVES SR.

HUMANSVILLE- Private family services will be held for James “Jim” LeRoy Graves Sr., 74, Humansville, who died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2021, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar.
Arrangements are under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family and may be made in care of the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; two sons, James Jr. “Jim” and wife Teresa, Lamar and Marc and wife Sherri, Franklin, Kan.; one daughter, Terry Kirkpatrick and husband Troy, Lamar; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Sandi Lancaster, Hermit, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leanne Brink.
Mr. Graves was born Sept. 14, 1946, in Okoboji, Iowa to LeRoy William Graves and Darlene Lucille (Buchholz) Graves. He was a 1965 graduate of Arnolds Park High School. He married Connie Mae Swanson on Nov. 18, 1967, in Arnolds Park, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1967. He moved to Lamar in August of 1979 and then moved to Humansville after his retirement in 2018.
Mr. Graves worked as a production lead at Eagle Picher in Pittsburg, Kan. He was a member of the Lamar Lions Club and the Lamar VFW. He loved to fish, making pens, hunting, woodworking, cars, car shows, sprint car racing and loved being on his tractor, especially giving his great-grandbabies a ride. He was a hard working man, always ready to help anyone and loved his family with all of his heart. He was a very amazing man and no matter what, he always knew how to help or listen. He was more than just Dad, he was the safety of any storm and the family’s hero.
