CARMELO “SONNY” TABONE

LAMAR- The family will have a celebration of life at a later date for Carmelo Angelo Salvador “Sonny” Tabone, 84, Lamar, who died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at Truman Healthcare, where he had been a resident for the last four years.
Survivors include his wife, Pearl Tabone, of the home; five daughters, Donna Smith and husband Steve, Webb City, Belinda Aytes and husband Alan, Neosho, Barbara Floyd and husband Bryan, Joplin, Suzanne Shackelford and husband Gene, Lamar and Georgia DeWitt and husband Mike, Kenoma; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Newland and a sister-in-law, Thelma Newland, both of New York; a brother-in-law, David Serianni, New York; a brother-in-law, George Morrow, Greenfield and a grandson, Brandon Shackelford, Lamar.
Mr. Tabone was born Nov. 4, 1936, in Rochester, NY, to Carmelo and Ellen (Farley) Tabone. He spent two years after school as a member of the New York Army National Guard, Private 1st Class and promoted to Specialist 4th Class before his honorable discharge.
During his time in the Army National Guard he married the love of his life, Pearl Leona Morrow on Feb. 18, 1956, in Rochester, NY. He worked in a grocery store for several years before he brought his wife and four girls to South Greenfield. They had one more daughter a few years later.
After the move to Missouri, he worked for Golden Business Forms until his retirement in 2012. He was able to say that he never missed a day of work in the 46 years he was employed there. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time, as well as tinkering (fixing) things. He was an amazing husband, father and grandpa.
