KEVIN SINGER
GOLDEN CITY-A memorial service was held at the family farm in Golden City on November 9, for Kevin Reginald Singer, 59, who died in the ICU unit of Cox Medical Center on Nov. 7, 2015. His death followed 10 years of suffering from a severe neurological disease. He eventually regained enough function to move to the family farm near Golden City, where he lived semi-independently the last five years. Per his request his ashes will be scattered over the seashore near Scituate, Massachusetts.
Arrangements were under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home.
He was married to Rebecca Borden of Fort Worth, Texas and their two children, Natalie and Myles, are among his survivors as well as his parents, Kay and Carl Singer, Golden City and two sisters, Karlita Manger and husband Robert and Nicole Brownsworth and husband Ronnie.
Mr. Singer was born June 24, 1956, to a family who was engaged in radio broadcasting. He attended kindergarten through high school in Weatherford, Texas and received his BA from East Texas State University in Commerce. He received his Juris Doctorate from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1992.
He began playing disc jockey at the age of two and as he began high school he studied for and qualified for the Radio Operators Third Class license from the FCC, allowing him to begin his disc jockey career. He worked his way through college as an employee of various radio stations.
While in law school he became executive director of a radio trade organization, Associates In Radio (AIR). As executive director he spoke at broadcasting trade conventions in several European nations. Before his illness he taught broadcasting law and managed campus radio stations at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts and at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Clair.
