GOLDEN CITY-Services will be held at a later date for Ora Elizabeth Beth White, 88, Golden City, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at her home. Burial will be in Vaughn Cemetery, north of Greenfield.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pugh Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of donor's choice.
Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Elliott, Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Linda (White) Nelson, Albuquerque, N.M.; four grandchildren, Danny, Cheryl, Justin and Jamie and five great-grandchildren, Gabriel, James, Henry, Anton and Lucy.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Bob White and a brother, John R. Reynolds.
Mrs. White was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Chautauqua County, Kan., to Louie B. and Ruth G. (Pate) Reynolds. She grew up in Chautauqua County, Kan., and was a 1944 graduate of Sedan High School. She worked two years as a grocery clerk at the A & P while going to school.
She was baptized and joined the Sedan Methodist Church in Sedan, Kan., as a teenager. She transferred to the A & P in Coffeyville as a grocery clerk. She and her husband moved to a farm east of Arcola in 1945, then moved to Kansas City in 1953, where she worked as a grocery checker until moving to Golden City in 1970. She operated a used merchandise and collectible store (Corner Clutter) from 1980-1989.
She married Linville L. White on Nov. 28, 1944, in Sedan, Kan. He died July 1, 1989.
