ARVILLA RHYNE

SPRINGFIELD-Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Konantz Warden Chapel in Lamar for Arvilla R. Rhyne, 89, who died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Ozark. Burial will follow at Howell Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Howell Cemetery or the Sgt. Thomas Daniel Rhyne Scholarship Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy and husband John; granddaughter Piper Schulte and husband Dan, grandson Chad Stills and wife Jennifer; step grandchildren Travis Rhyne and wife Noelle, Wendy Slayton and husband Michael and Jill Johnson and husband Kevin; a great-grandson, Nicholas Stills; great-granddaughters Kyla, Lakin and Brooklyn Schulte; eight step great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Jim Allman and wife Sharon and 13 other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rhyne was born Dec. 19, 1925, in Crawford County, Kan., to Croal Winslow and Mary (Devine) Coy. Her family moved to the Milford area when she was very young. She attended Milford and Lamar High School, as well as State Teachers College in Springfield. She taught for one year before she met and married Robert Daniel Rhyne on July 1, 1943. Their home was a railroad car while he worked for the railroad. After their daughter was born they purchased a small Gulfstream, where they could reside while traveling with her husband. They later purchased a farm and lived there together. He died in 1956 and Mrs. Rhyne and her daughter Nancy continued to live on the farm. In 1967 she started working at the Missouri State Hospital, where she retired in 1987. In 2007 she moved to Springfield to be near family.
Mrs. Rhyne was baptized at an early age and was a member of the Nazarene Church, but had attended Newport Baptist Church in her later years.
